Early Intervention Services
The IU5 Early Childhood Intervention Program evaluates and provides services for children with special needs beginning at age 3 until they are eligible to enter kindergarten. Any parent concerned about his/her child's development may refer his/her child to the Early Childhood Intervention Program.

Service Area
The IU5 Early Childhood Intervention Program identifies and provides services to children ages three to five years old, with special needs, for the following districts:
- Crawford County
- Erie County (with the exception of the School District of the City of Erie call: (814) 874-6155)
- Warren County
Referral Process
Once a referral is made, an Early Intervention Service Coordinator will call to schedule a time to meet to begin gathering additional information.
Individualized Education Program
If a child qualifies for Early Intervention Services, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) will be developed by the child's IEP team, which includes a parent/guardian.
Service Delivery
Services are required to be provided in a child's Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). These settings may include, but are not limited to:
- Home/Daycare
- Preschool/Pre-K Counts
- Head Start
- Special Ed Setting
- Approved Private Schools
Transition to School Age
When age eligible to attend Kindergarten, all children on an IEP are entitled to a transition meeting held in conjunction with school district personnel.
