Volunteer Opportunities

Only three hours a week can change someone’s life!

We are always welcoming new volunteers to support adult learners in Erie, Clarion, Crawford, Forest, Venango, and Warren Counties. Our volunteers work alongside our certified classroom instructors to provide one-to-one and/or small-group instruction in language arts, math, and English as a Second Language (ESL). Training is FREE, materials are FREE, and the hours are tailored to fit your schedule! It is a great opportunity to meet people with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Our volunteer program is the perfect opportunity for personal and professional growth with immediate return on your time investment!

Prior teaching experience is not necessary, nor is speaking a foreign language to work with English language learners. All you need is a desire to help others improve their lives, the lives of their familites, and the community as a whole. As a volunteer, you're not alone. You will receive support from certified instructors in the classroom, a volunteer coordinator, and multiple opportunities for professional development. We'll help you with teaching techniques, preparing lesson plans, using teaching materials, and with any other challenges you encounter.

Becoming a volunteer is simple, however there are a few requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 hours per week (about one class period)
  • Attend training (online or face-to-face)
  • Pass a background check
  • TB Test
