How to Apply
Applications for Governor’s Schools are available in all Pennsylvania public and nonpublic high schools.  Applications are also available online at www.state.pa.us, PA Keyword “schools of excellence" or www.pgse.org.
Selection Process
Selection to a Governors School is based on competitive merit of the applicant’s performance as demonstrated through the application.  The selection processes for all of the programs are very competitive.

Judges for all programs are highly qualified professionals, including college faculty and state officials.  Additional information about the programs and the selection processes are attached to each application.
Cost and Commitment
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education* provides the tuition, room, board, instruction materials, and program activities for each participant.  Each participant and their families are responsible for transportation to and from the program, pocket money, a deposit that is refunded if all conditions are met, and for damages not covered by the deposit.  All students must remain in residence for the entire 35-day program including the weekends, and arrive promptly for all classes and activities.  There is some unscheduled time for personal use almost everyday but the Governor’s Schools cannot provide special facilities or alter the schedule for formal athletic training or other commitments unrelated to the program.

* Funding for the Governor’s School for Health Care is provided by the Department of Health.
