Act 48 Eligible Programs
Workshops, networking sessions, and other staff development programs are held to meet the needs of the region’s educators for staff development.  Act 48 hours are awarded, if eligible under district professional education plans.

Curriculum Consultation
Assistance with aligning curriculum, assessment, and instruction with research-based best practices and state regulations on a customized basis to meet district needs.

Distance Learning
All seventeen school districts in our region are equipped to videoconference.  A video- conference is a live, two-way interaction (both video and voice).  Participants are able to see and hear the far-end and simultaneously be seen and heard.  Teachers and students are able to access resources never before available to enhance and enrich the teaching and learning process.  The Intermediate Unit attained an ACCORD video bridge, which allows multiple sites to connect at the same time via videoconference.  The video bridge is utilized for staff development, electronic field trips, and may be contracted by out- side agencies for conferencing purposes.

Graduate Professional Education Courses
Courses are held at the Intermediate Unit and at sites throughout the region, with PDE graduate inservice credit attached.

Parent Consultant/Parent Support Center
Our parent consultant is available to provide assistance to parents regarding the special education process.  The consultant will listen to parents’ needs, work to improve communication between special education providers and parents, and be another link for accessing information.

The purpose of this federal program is to provide staff development, technical assistance, and consultation for school district staff.  Intermediate Unit staff with extensive expertise and experience delivers these services to improve the academic and behavior success of children receiving special education services.  These federally funded services are available to districts at no cost.
